Dedicated to the memory of Peter Prior

This site is a tribute to Peter Prior. Peter ('Pete') sadly passed away on Saturday the 11th November 2017 in Croydon at the age of 87, after a period of ill health. Pete is very much loved and will always be remembered by his children Philip, Jane and Tim, our mother Doreen, his partner for many years, Carol, and of course by all his grandchildren, other family members and the many friends and colleagues who lived, worked or otherwise enjoyed Pete's company during his long and varied life. Pete was a keen sportsman throughout (he would try almost any sport), winning medals whilst in the army, an enthusiastic walker, a traveller, a sometime honky tonk piano player, a long suffering Crystal Palace fan and always one who always welcomed new challenges. Although Pete spent most of his working life in the International Telecommunications department of what was then the GPO, before National Service he was young sailor in the Merchant Navy, crossing the world many times before his 18th birthday. Even before that he had been a member of the Sea Cadets. In later years he would often be found on the ferry from Portsmouth with us, intrepidly setting out for Brittany on a stormy night. Pete was always a lover of the sea, the seaside and all things maritime and nautical throughout his life, which is why he was a keen supporter of the work of the RNLI, as he knew first hand what it was like to be at sea, far from land and to be at the mercy of the elements. Pete, my Dad, has now taken his final journey and on behalf of the family and everyone who knew him, I want to say to him good luck and 'Bon Voyage'.

Philip Prior
